Lagonda Concept Lagonda is back. The legendary British marque has been revived for its 100th anniversary and to mark the event a new Lagonda concept car has made its debut today at the Geneva Motor Show. Lagonda is best known for its range of saloons and tourers but its future lies in a very different realm. The idea behind the revival of Lagonda is to allow current owner, Aston Martin, to reserve its own name for its sports car models like the upcoming Vantage V12 RS and One-77 supercar and have another brand to develop models with a completely different character. As expected, the latest concept vehicle is anything but a sports car, but exactly what segment it fits remains uncertain. Looking somewhat like the deformed step-brother of the Lincoln MKT crossover the new Lagonda Concept could best be described as the ugly lovechild of a sedan and crossover. The concept has been designed using elements from Lagonda’s past but it also showcases a unique design language that will feature prominently on its future models. The vehicle is essentially a luxury sedan with four doors and seating capacity for four adults that sits on a 4WD platform. While no specifications have been released, its designers envisage the vehicle accommodating a broad range of future powertrains, including flexfuel, low emission diesel and hybrid systems.Viewed from the front, the concept sports an oversized grille not unlike Aston Martin’s own signature design. This is flanked by narrow, tapered back headlights that lead to a raked cabin with sharp lines defining the profile. These sharp lines are matched by bold character lines that run along the sculpted flanks to the rear. Large 22in wheels and cut-away bodywork offer plenty of ground clearance, while the concept's V12 engine delivers power through all four wheels.Under the leadership of Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez, Lagonda will bring performance luxury into new markets and territories around the world. Lagonda will return to Russia, enter emerging markets in the Middle East, South America, India and China, as well as established markets such as Europe, North America and the Far East. Aston Martins are currently available in only 32 countries, but Bez expects that Lagonda will be available in more than 100 countries.Cars of a 'different character' are to be the specialty of the Lagonda brand and appealing to a broader market appears to be part of the effort. For Aston Martin’s sake, we hope the market is broad enough to contain enough customers who would find vehicles styled like this latest Lagonda Concept attractive enough to actually buy one.

Audi quattro conceptDuring the shrinking process, the weight was also reduced to around 2900 pounds. To accomplish this weight reduction, Audi replaced the steel body with an aluminum spaceframe with carbon fiber panels. Weight was further reduced by overhauling the vehicle’s powertrain, but more on this later.
The exterior of the vehicle is classic Audi, with that big gaping front grille, with air inlets on either side and up top of the hood. The Quattro features LED headlights that can change shape from horizontal or vertical. Instead of casual turn signals, these new lights use amber streaks in the front and moving yellow brackets in the rear of the car.
The overall look of the Quattro is quite good. The rear fascia has a bit of Dodge Challenger to it, with those square taillights and that boxy design. From the side, one would never know that this vehicle isn’t a hatchback, as the rear pillars are very think that appear to run all the way to the rear of the car. It’s a very modern design with some old school Audi touches.
The interior of the Quattro won’t have enough room to haul your kids around, as this vehicle only has two seats. Although that might seem like an issue, most of the rear seats on these sport coupes are so small anyway that you can’t fit a child in if you tried. Between these two seats you have room for helmets, cup holders, odds and ends and even a fire extinguisher, but let’s just hope you won’t need one of those.
The seats are trimmed in brown leather and have a carbon fiber frame, side airbags and racing harnesses. It will feature Audi’s MMI system that will allow the driver to control all the car’s gizmos from larger screen.
Audi quattro conceptOf course, this vehicle is going to have the latest Quattro all-wheel drive design that has a rear-bias and a sport differential. The suspension is roughly the same unit on the RS5 and to bring the car to a stop, you have carbon-ceramic brakes.
Audi believes that the Quattro can hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, but like most German vehicles, the top speed is limited to 155 mph. With all this speed and power, it’s amazing when we hear that it can give back 30 mpg.
There is a lack of competition for such a vehicle, as we aren’t sure that the Quattro will even be made. One vehicle that might rival it comes from Audi, the RS5. This sport coupe might be the death of the Quattro concept because there isn’t much of a point in creating a sports coupe when you already have one.
The RS5 features a 4.2-liter FSI V8 with a seven-speed S-tronic transmission. The power plant will be upgraded to produce 450 HP and will be more than enough to send the RS5 sprinting from 0 to 60 MPH in around 4.5 seconds. That’s slower than the Quattro, but money talks and if the RS5 is good enough for customers, it’s good enough for Audi.

We don’t usually see auto brands like Alfa Romeo get dressed in green tires, so when somebody decides to do it – props to Marangoni – we jump on the opportunity to know more about it.Based on the Alfa Romeo 1750 Quadrifoglio Verde that has had its fair share of modifications, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni is a testament to an aggressive sports hatch being given randy dandy aerodynamic and aesthetic upgrades. Heck, these guys were nice enough to even include a Segway i2 a dashboard-integrated iPad and its own Internet connection.
Marangoni’s M-Power tires were used on the car and the green color wrapped around them came as a result of using compounds with high silica content and other innovative materials. Aside from being an aesthetic quirk, this colorful addition actually serves a meaningful purpose by minimizing rolling resistance and, consequently, saving up on fuel consumption.
Exterior and InteriorCalled the Marangoni M-Power iGreen tires, these tires were turned green courtesy of special fluorescent pigments that were added to the compound, giving it green-black combination that makes the Giulietta G430 iMove Marangoni even more eye-catching. The tires are then fitted to a set of 19” Barracuda Karizzma wheels.

The interior of the Giulietta G430 iMove was designed in collaboration with Conte of Florence, an Italian-based label that specializes in high-end sportswear apparel. In designing the interior, Conte of Florence used a number of premium materials, including leather, Alcantara, and carbon. Moreover, the company also applied quilting to pay homage to Scotland’s golfing tradition while using a unique green and grey color finish to reflect one of the brand’s themes on their current 2010-2011 Fall-Winter collection.

Proton Lekir ConceptUnheralded as the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show is to people from this part of the world, there are still a number of vehicles over there that are worth keeping tabs on. This year, what looked to be a facelifted Lotus Europa made its way to the KLIMS, but upon closer inspection, we discovered that this car was no Lotus.
Well, actually, it was, except that it has been rebadged by Malaysian automaker Proton and given the designation the Lekir Concept. Given the partnership between the two companies, it figures that with the expected end of the Europa’s production run in Europe, Lotus was looking for a new market for their sports car, a market that will welcome it with open arms, even if it has been rebadged under a local brand.
That’s where Proton and Malaysia enter the picture. Unlike the European spec Europa, which came with a Vauxhall-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produced over 200 horsepower, the Lekir Concept is scheduled to be powered by a 1.6-liter Campro engine with performance numbers that should be right on par with a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter engine.
Since it’s a concept, details are being kept at a minimum for now. We’re pretty confident though that the car will eventually see the production line sometime soon. The Lotus Europa may have had a premature life span in Europe, but who’s to say that it won’t be successful in Malaysia – and other parts of Asia for that matter – disguised under a different brand and different name.

We will continue our list of ultra-expensive Christmas gifts with a special vehicle: a street legal Saleen Competition S7 supercar available for sale for an impressive $499,000.
When unveiled in 2000, the Saleen S7 was powered by a naturally aspirated V8 engine with 550 HP. With the introduction of the Competition package, Saleen added a few updates, including 100 HP engine upgrades, a big Le Mans style race wing, winglets up front, and red/black 4pt harness seats. With the new updates, the car was capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and hitting a top speed of more than 200 mph. This was just a step closer to the impressive Twin-Turbo version that was capable of a top speed of 248 mph.
The S7 on sale is the number 27 model, which was the first one offered with the competition package, and the first one that featured the red exterior paint.
