Mitsubishi planing to launch Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in India expected to June or in July 2009. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is a D-segment Luxury Sedan car in India. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X car also known as Evo 10, will be preceded by that of Outlander sports utility vehicle (SUV). Mitsubishi is planning to bring Evo 10 to India through the completely built route (import) and right now, there are no plans of making the carlocally in the country. At the international level, Price of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is $30,473 (Rs 12 lakh) and $32,697 (Rs 13 lakh), for different variants. However, since the car will be imported in India, the total price of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, after adding duties, will come up to somewhere around Rs 21.70 to 23.5 lakh. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X price is expected to be come in direct competition with other luxury cars of this segment like Toyota Camry, Skoda Superb, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Nissan Teana and Audi A-4. The USP of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X will be its rugged engine and smooth driving experience, rather than exterior looks. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X car is a four-door, five-seater one, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X is equipped with a 2.0L, 1998cc, 16-Valve, MIVEC, DOHC, Turbo engine with 5-speed manual transmission which makes it a much powerful car. Its powerful engine produces 290bhp power at 6500 rpm and 407Nm torque at 3500 rpm. Its powerful engine makes it able to touch the mark of 60km in just 4.7 seconds. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X has an aluminum engine block under the hood, which makes it pretty lightweight. To add on to the experience of driving Lancer Evolution X, Mitsubishi has fitted it with a four-wheel drive (4WD) option also. The Mileage of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in city is around 12kmpl while on highway condition it gives 15kmpl. The active safety features which are available in Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X are ABS with EBD, and an array of airbag that includes curtain SRS airbag, driver's SRS airbag, dual front SRS airbag, and passenger's SRS airbag.
